Who we are

Harbor Gates Rentals is a property management company that works with a collective of independent private landlords and licensed agents across the Southeast and Midwest. We handle the things that take up a landlord’s time — listing the property, screening applications, scheduling tours, administering leases, and being the day-to-day point of contact for tenants — so the landlord can focus on the property and the numbers.

For tenants, that means you get the personal touch of working directly with the actual landlord listing the home, plus the reliability of professional management standing behind every property. The best of both worlds.

How we look at credit

A credit score is a snapshot of your financial past. It doesn’t say much about how you’re going to pay rent next month. So we don’t pull one.

Instead, our application process focuses on what actually matters for a successful tenancy: verifiable income, a government-issued ID, and a standard background check. If you have steady work and the income to cover the rent, you’re a strong candidate — regardless of what an old utility bill or medical debt did to your score.

Our partner landlords agree with this approach. That’s why they joined our collective in the first place. They want to rent to people, not to FICO scores.
